Many would describe youth ministry like this: the youth pastor does the REAL ministry, while the volunteers and support staff assist him in that process. We’d like to propose an opposite vision. We at Real:Life//Student Ministries highly value the role of the volunteer and our parents. For us as youth pastors to try to be the primary teacher and mentor to every student would be exhausting, inefficient, and downright impossible.
Therefore, we highly value our parents and the partnership we can enjoy together in helping your teen walk in Christ. Our desire is to walk along side of our families with your teens so that we might see them embrace their relationship with God over the world and it’s many influences. We here at Real:Life//Student: Ministries want to assist you in your goal of developing your sons and daughters as people of God. This year we’ll be doing our best to plan events with that purpose in mind. There are a few ways in which you can get involved in the hopes of seeing your student experience growth this school year: - CONSISTENCY: We’ve planned many events and talks oriented around the concept of “focusing” on God. Our hope is that each talk builds more on what it means to “fix our eyes” on Jesus. This concept packs more of a punch when students consistently attend the evens, and when they can gradually learn how to apply these ideas to their lives.
- COMMUNICATION WITH US: We openly welcome any questions or feedback you have regarding our ministry. We also ask you to communicate to us any observations you make (both positive and negative) about your child’s progress. Again, we cannot understand fully the spiritual and emotional situation of each student, so we appreciate any communication from parents that will give us more insight on how to reach the individual student.
- COMMUNICATION WITH YOUR CHILD: As a ministry team, we will do our best to speak into the life of each individual student, but we realize 1-on-1 individual attention is severely limited with a larger amount of students. We’re hoping that you as parents will ask your son or daughter questions about what they heard or what they are learning.
